Ever wish you could stop the sustain of your hammer dulcimer at will? Ever wish you could hear every little roll and bounce of the hammers or produce that “steel drum” voice without your instrument being stuck in that mode all the time? NOW YOU CAN? Dampers are all the rage of advanced players of the hammer dulcimer. Master Works hears your plea for the tools you need to be the best musician possible. |
“The dampers I've seen are big, clumsy and hard to control. The pedal has to be located in the most uncomfortable place smack in the middle of the instrument” , you say? “I would rather not mess with strings and dealing with keeping them evened out and untangled.” Well, Master Works hears you. The Russell Cook / Master Works designed damper system is none of that! |
A detachable and adjustable cable running from the pedal smoothly and quietly operates the damper mechanism. Locate the pedal anywhere you wish ! The dampers are small, tight, smooth and quiet. There are no big bulky flat metal springs sticking up in the air. Russell's design philosophy for decades has been “smaller, lighter and simpler is inevitably better.” We're sure you'll agree this is the best system ever for hammer dulcimer dampers! |

The redesigned chromatic setup on new Master Works instruments permits simple installation by the craftsmen at the workshop. Some older Master Works instruments – especially non-chromatic models – are capable of being retro-fitted, as well. Installation on other builder's instruments may be difficult due to a variety of angle variations and complexity of design and spacing.
